Sourcing Policy

Readers should be able to understand where a material claim came from and how current that evidence is.

Source priority

For product facts, we begin with official documentation, pricing pages, changelogs, support material, terms, standards bodies, regulatory material, and primary announcements. These sources are closest to the underlying fact, but they may represent the interests of the organization publishing them.

Reputable independent reporting, analysis, or research is used for corroboration and context. We consider whether a source actually supports the claim, has relevant expertise, identifies its evidence, and has a record of corrections.

News corroboration

Independent news normally needs both a relevant primary source and independent corroboration. If only the company announcement is available, TechNest labels the article accordingly and avoids presenting promotional claims as verified performance.

Time-sensitive information

Prices, plan limits, availability, compatibility, and product features can change quickly. Articles containing those details display a “last checked” date. Time-sensitive drafts expire and require revalidation if they are not approved promptly.

Conflicts and uncertainty

When credible sources disagree, we record the conflict and describe the uncertainty if it matters to the reader. We do not resolve a contradiction by quietly selecting the more convenient source.

Links and excerpts

Sources are linked as close to the relevant article as practical. Excerpts are kept short and used only when needed to explain evidence. We do not reproduce paywalled articles, copyrighted images, or large portions of another publisher’s work.
